Despite the outward appearance of conspicuous consumption, TechnoAlpin Indoor, the creator of the modern SNOWROOM, prides itself on efficiency. The company, which also manufactures snowmaking equipment for ski resorts, states that the SNOWROOM uses only about 200 liters of water per week — barely enough to fill a large bathtub. Moreover, “up to 80% of the electrical energy used [for the SNOWROOM] can be recovered and repurposed — for example, to heat a swimming pool,” which is great news for anyone who can’t quite keep up with the heating bill for their personal pool.

Apparently, the SNOWROOM has become the latest entry in a growing lineup of luxury health and wellness fads, joining the ranks of cryotherapy chambers and red light therapy. These frigid little getaways are said to boost blood flow and circulation, aiding everything from muscle recovery to stress relief. Between the claimed health benefits and the sheer novelty of owning a personal winter wonderland, it’s easy to see why the SNOWROOM is becoming a must-have for the ultra wealthy.

While TechnoAlpine Indoor SNOWROOM pricing is not publicly available, similar products from companies such as Desert Snow have been listed around $150,000. So next time you’re eyeing a luxury car or a modest starter home, maybe reconsider — and get a snow-filled room instead.
