Snowstorm Dumping in Alps and Pyrenees This Weekend

While Resorts in the Western US are blowing snow to open on time, many resorts in the Alps and Pyrenees are expecting huge snowstorms to bring feet of snow over the weekend.  So far fall snowstorms have broken records for snowfall in the Alps this season. Early December storms in the Alps as well the Pyrenees have many resorts expecting a couple of feet of snow over the weekend. Some areas expect as much as 40″ of snow, while others a foot or two. Here are some recent photos and expected snowfall from a handful of resorts:

Chamonix in the French Alps is expecting up to 46″ by Wednesday, according to opensnow.com.

Val d’Isere in the French Alps is expecting up to 25″ by Wednesday.

Ischgl in the Austrian Alps is expecting 11″ on Sunday. Not as significant snowfall as other resorts in the region, but more than most in the Western US.

Pralognan La Vanoise in the French Alps is expecting up to 32″ from this storm by Wednesday.

Les Diablerets in the Swiss Alps is expecting up to 41″ by Wednesday from this storm.

Porte Puymorens in the French Pyrenees is forecasted to expect up to 16″ on Sunday.

Guzet in the French Pyrenees is expecting 30″ by Monday beginning on Sunday.

Snowstorm in La Pierre Saint-Martin in the French Pyrenees is expecting up to 47″ by Monday, more than most in the Pyrenees region.
