Good problems? It appears that ‘too much snow’ is a thing for Soldier Mountain Ski Area in Idaho who announced they will be closed today because of snow.

Thursday Feb 28, 2019 CLOSED

Due to massive amounts of new snow with increasing density and current extreme avalanche warning in effect, Soldier Mountain will be closed Thursday (February 28, 2019) as we continue digging out and getting the mountain safe for skiing Friday through Sunday (Mar 1 – Mar 3, 2019). We still have another foot of snow on the way through Thursday, but Friday is shaping up to be mostly sunny and 27 degrees. Thanks to our employees who have not only been digging themseves out, but also helping us try to stay ahead of this massive storm. Sorry for any inconvenience, we strive to provide a safe fun day of skiing every day we are open and Thursday will not be one of those days.

The excessive snow has created unsafe conditions for skiers and snowboarders. The resort said it will be closed on Thursday “as we continue digging out and getting the mountain safe for skiing Friday through Sunday.”

Soldier Mountain Ski Area, which celebrated its 70th birthday last year, was once owned by Bruce Willis, before he donated it to a non-profit in 2012.

With 90″ of snow in February alone, and a 85″ base, Soldier Mountain Ski Area is in the middle of an epic season and are expecting up to another foot of snow today.
