Solitude Mountain Resort is eyeing a November 14 opening day, kicking off a 100-day countdown to the 2025-26 ski season. Despite the sweltering summer heat in the Salt Lake Valley with temperatures currently hovering around 100ºF, the Big Cottonwood Canyon resort is already turning its focus toward early winter.

Solitude’s announcement on Wednesday, shared via social media, puts it on track for another early start, though slightly later than the November 8 opening it pulled off last season. In recent years, the resort has consistently aimed to be the first in Utah to open and one of the last to close, carving out a reputation for delivering one of the state’s longest ski seasons.

Backed by Alterra Mountain Company and featured on the Ikon Pass, Solitude has leaned heavily into its snowmaking capabilities to extend the season at both ends. While November 14 is a tentative target, resort managers say they’re ready to adjust earlier if the weather cooperates.
