All the early season snowfall Utah has been getting has prompted Solitude Mountain Resort in Utah to push its opening day up to next Friday, Nov. 11.

It’ll be the earliest the resort has opened since 2013.

On opening day this year, the resort will be hosting a party with a performing DJ and free donuts along with free lift tickets to all active-duty, reserve, retired, and veteran military personnel in observance of Veteran’s Day.

Solitude wrote on its website regarding the announcement:

Catch a ride on the first chair of the season at Solitude and get ready to rip, carve, huck, and schuss down our slopes once again. Lifts open November 11, our earliest opening day since 2013.

Our opening day party has become tradition. Starting at 8:00 a.m., we’ll be serving free donuts while a DJ cranks the excitement to 11 and keeps the party rolling. As always, opening day is dependent on conditions, so stay tuned for lift and terrain updates in the days leading up to opening day – and think snow!

In observance of Veteran’s Day, Solitude is offering free lift tickets to all active-duty, reserve, retired, and veteran military personnel. Parking will be free for all November 11 to November 17. Moonbeam Express and Link Lift will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with access to Same Street, Little Dollie, and Easy Street. Moonbeam Lodge cafeteria will be open, and rentals will be available on the lower level of Moonbeam.

With more snow on the way for Utah this weekend and next week, winter is off to an early but strong start in the Wasatch.
