Sommet Saint-Sauveur, Quebec, opened the 2025-26 season on November 9, becoming the first resort to open on the East Coast. This year’s opening is five days earlier than in 2024, when the resort welcomed skiers on November 14.
The resort offered exclusive early access to Summits members and Association des Stations de Ski du Québec (ASSQ) provincial pass holders on opening day, featuring a group photo event and commemorative “DAY 1” sweaters for the first 200 attendees.
For the 2025-26 season, the resort has invested heavily in upgrades. These include expanding eco-friendly LED lighting for night skiing on 30 trails, a redesigned freestyle SnoPrk terrain park with a new rope tow and rail garden, and improved boarding facilities at the Sommet Express chairlift, featuring a new loading carpet and multiple gates. Safety enhancements include the implementation of an artificial intelligence system to support lift operation, complementing the existing BlueCime system. A state-of-the-art Prinoth Lightwolf snow groomer enhances grooming quality, while snowmaking infrastructure has been expanded with the addition of new snow guns and fixed snowmakers throughout Les Sommets.
Visitor amenities have been enhanced with a renovated terrace bar and sound system, upgraded dining and retail spaces, expanded parking, and new family-oriented features, including improved rental equipment and a refreshed resort mascot. Looking ahead, the resort plans to open La Place du Sommet in 2026, a four-season destination featuring interactive trails and alpine village-inspired attractions.
Often the first East Coast resort to open, Killington Resort in Vermont announced last week that, despite starting up its snowguns, it wasn’t quite ready to open yet and is now targeting this week.
