The biggest storm of the season so far is just beginning in South America, with estimated totals over the next couple of days being reported in feet, not inches.

Chile looks like it will receive the higher totals, in excess of 4-feet at some resorts, but that doesn’t mean that Argentina is being left behind, over 3-feet expected at Las Leñas, and many others around the 2-foot mark.

Most resorts are open now, Cerro Catedral, Argentina one of the latest when they started their lifts turning on July 1st. Nevados de Chillan, Chile partially opened this week, so this storm will be more than welcome to help them open more lifts and terrain.

Many resorts in both countries are reporting over 30″ bases, so conditions and terrain should be pretty sweet right now.

One thing’s for sure, if it’s a powder day you want, then it’ll be hard to beat South America over the next few days.
