We started the day off at Squaw Valley today but we headed to Alpine Meadows after learning of the active search and rescue that was going on at Squaw that  kept the mountain closed until around 11am.

Squaw Alpine reported 32″ of snow in the past 24 hours this morning.

Alpine opened at 9:15am and the skiing was phenomenal.

Some of the best snow I’ve skied anywhere.

Squaw Alpine reported 32″ of snow in the past 24 hours and neither of the upper mountains were open yesterday.

Needless to say, it was damn good up top.  It was damn good down low today as well.

At around noon, we left Alpine and headed back to Squaw and waited around 45 minutes for KT-22 to open.

It was worth it.

Deep, blower powder delivered faceshot after faceshot and skied like a dream.

We got two laps in on KT before all of Squaw closed due to an inbounds avalanche.

Today was an incredible day of skiing and riding at Squaw and Alpine.
