After weeks of preparation and snowmaking at every opportunity, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows will celebrate Opening Day for the 2019-20 season on Friday, Nov. 15 with skiing, riding, snow tubing and swag giveaways. Guests will have access to intermediate terrain on Kangaroo trail at Alpine Meadows and beginner terrain and snow tubing at SnoVentures Activity Zone at Squaw Valley. The Squaw Kids area will also be open for children’s lessons. Lifts will spin from 9 a.m.-4 p.m daily.

Only once in the last ten years has the resort opened earlier than November 15, and on only three occasions in the past twenty years.

Beginner ski tickets for SnoVentures will be on sale for $49 and snow tubing will cost $42. Day tickets at Alpine Meadows start at $84 for adults when purchased in advance or $99 at the window at Alpine Meadows. Tahoe Super 4 Pack and Ikon Pass holders are encouraged to check out the Opening Day Checklist to get ready for the first turns of the season.

With a focus on best serving its guests, Squaw Valley Alpine Meadow has invested $9 million in snowmaking over the past nine years. The system encompasses over 300 snowmaking guns, many of which are now fully automated: Automatic air and temperature sensors allow snowmakers to determine the optimal time to make the best snow and remotely control the quality and quantity of snow, from powder to heavy base-setting snow. The resort team will continue to make snow at every opportunity, and open more terrain as weather and conditions allow.
