Following a highly successful 38th Annual Reggae Festival that brought one of the largest crowds in recent years to Sugarloaf, Maine, the resort is heading into its final stretch of the 75th anniversary season with daily operations continuing through Sunday, April 26.
Held April 10–12, Reggae Fest once again delivered a signature spring weekend at Sugarloaf, combining live music, après-ski energy, and classic late-season skiing conditions. Building on that momentum, the resort will remain open seven days a week through closing day, offering one of the longest-running lift-served ski seasons in the East.
Following April 19, Sugarloaf will be the only resort in Maine offering daily skiing and riding, and one of just a few in the Northeast still operating midweek. Lift hours will shift to 9:30am–4:50pm, and guests are encouraged to check the Mountain Report for the latest daily updates as spring conditions evolve.
With a high-elevation location in northern Maine, consistent natural snowfall, and ongoing investments in snowmaking and terrain management, Sugarloaf continues to extend reliable spring skiing well beyond most regional resorts. Snowmaking coverage across 95% of its 1,360 acres supports quality conditions deep into April.
Spring celebrations continue this weekend with live music and the annual Pond Skimming Competition on Saturday, April 18 — one of Sugarloaf’s most anticipated events of the season. The fan-favorite tradition brings costumed participants, big crowds, and classic Sugarloaf energy to the base area as skiers and riders attempt to cross the iconic spring pond. In addition to Pond Skimming, the Season Pass Holder BBQ and the Paul Schipper Ironman Award ceremony will both be held on Sunday, April 19.
Guests can take advantage of the limited-time “Buy Now, Ski Now” season pass offer, along with $55 lift tickets and $39 Buddy Tickets. Passholders — including Ikon Pass holders — and day guests alike are encouraged to make the most of the final week of lift-served skiing in Maine.
With closing day set for April 26, Sugarloaf stands among the last resorts in the East still operating — offering a final chance to enjoy spring conditions, signature events, and a milestone 75th season on the mountain.
