The forecast was for overcast with highs in the low 30’s. It hasn’t snowed anything appreciable in over a week in Colorado. I had low expectations. However, I was very pleasantly surprised today.

The snow was edgeable and fast from top to bottom on the groomers and fun and chalky elsewhere. Being a Friday, we had the mountain to ourselves (by Colorado standards).

For groomers the place to be was Lenawee. With so few people it stayed good all day!

After a great morning on the groomers we headed over to Pali, and timed the rope drop perfectly!

For most of the rest of the day we skied Pali. The conditions started a bit chunky, but the more people that skied it the chalkier it got. By the end of the day it was skiing very well!

Given the forecast and the time of year, I was very happy to be skiing fun snow, on a not too shabby base for the beginning of December.

  1. I have skied A-Basin for the last 11 years and recently moved to WA, I find it, not surprising that the resort would have the author include the last part of the write up…having said that, it’s a great place to ski. Better than Vail ( except E Vail ) VAIL SUCKS.
