Celebrating 90 seasons this year, Sun Valley Resort, Idaho, is excited to announce that the mountain will officially open for skiing and riding on Wednesday, December 3, with top-to-bottom skiing and access available via Lookout Express and River Run Express chairlifts. Thanks to the return of colder temperatures to the Wood River Valley and the tireless work of Sun Valley’s mountain operations team, guests will be able to celebrate the start of the milestone 90th season on the slopes this Wednesday.
Upper College, Lower College, Sunset Strip and Lower River Run will be open—showcasing Sun Valley’s 3,400 vertical feet of skiing—and guests can expect the exciting opening day experience that the Sun Valley community looks forward to each year, including commemorative Sun Valley opening-day mugs and hot cocoa, a live DJ at River Run base, and plenty of 90th-season stoke.
“We’re thrilled to welcome guests back to the mountain this Wednesday. Our teams have worked around the clock to open the mountain, and we’re grateful for everyone’s patience as we begin an incredible 90th season.”
— Pete Sonntag, Chief Operating Officer, Sun Valley Resort
As temperatures drop, snowstorms move through, and snowmaking continues, the mountain operations team will focus on opening additional terrain as quickly and safely as possible.
