Named #1 Ski Resort by SKI Magazine, Sun Valley Resort groomed the trail for destination ski experiences in North America. And when it comes to quality, the visitor can expect nothing less than excellence.

Think 3400 foot vertical, 645 acres of snowmaking, 75 groomed trails, 14 lifts (including a gondola) and nothing but the best of every conceivable amenity. Sun Valley is a top destination on the ‘Must Visit’ list and it just drew the curtain on its 85th winter season.

In classic Sun Valley fashion, forecast remained largely bright and joyful leading up to closing day. Snow conditions were soft-and-getting-softer. And the ski community of Wood River Valley celebrated in its usual safety-conscious, characterful manner.

Forecast tracking for the area reports a 125″ snowfall total for the season, maxing-out at 110″ base depth at the Summit of Bald Mountain. Better still that accumulation fell over 380 acres of new terrain, just opened in February ’21. But be it fresh terrain or old trail favorites, it’s all good so long as it’s skiing at Sun Valley.

Look for the mountain to restart winter hi-jinx around November, 2021.

In the meantime, make plans to enjoy all Sun Valley Resort has to offer over Spring, Summer, and Fall!

Fun Fact: ‘Papa’ was a skier. Laid to rest outside Sun Valley, we know from Hemingway’s personal letters that the family took ski holidays, when he hiked for lines and polished his craft. image: P.M.Fadden
