Skiing
We embarked on a quick drive from Salt Lake City to Sundance Mountain Resort, nestled in the shadow of Mount Timpanogos. The last stretch through Provo Canyon offered breathtaking views of rugged cliffs and the Provo River, setting the stage for the dayโs adventures.
Upon arrival, we boarded the Outlaw Express, a high-speed quad lift that swiftly carried us to Mandan Summit. From this vantage point, the resortโs 540+ acres of skiable terrain unfolded before us, featuring 72 runs catering to all skill levels, a 2150 foot vertical drop, and 300+ inches of yearly snowfall. The meticulously groomed trails provided smooth descents, while the gladed areas offered a more rugged, off-piste experience.
A highlight of the day was visiting the highest lift-accessedย area of the resort, Bearclaw Cabin, perched at 8,250 feet. This unique on-mountain lodge offers panoramic 360-degree views of the Wasatch Range, making it an ideal spot to relax and absorb the stunning scenery. Visitors can even peer into Provo, which is similar to views at resorts in the Cottonwood Canyons.
The resortโs commitment to enhancing the skiing experience is evident with the addition of the Wildwood Lift in 2021, a fixed-grip quad that expands access to diverse terrain. This lift has effectively reduced wait times and improved the overall flow on the mountain.
As the day concluded, we descended to the base area, where rustic architecture harmoniously blends with the natural environment. The facilities, including well-equipped rental shops and diverse dining options, reflect Sundanceโs dedication to providing a comprehensive and enjoyable guest experience.
Sundance Mountain Resort seamlessly combines natural beauty with thoughtfully designed amenities, offering a memorable skiing adventure in the heart of Utahโs mountains.
