Not content with allowing Killington, VT all the east coast glory, Sunday River, ME joined the party yesterday by announcing they too will be opening this weekend. Their website stated they will open Friday 19th October at 10 am and will open weekends until early November.

Although not their earliest opening ever (that was the first week of October 1997) this will be their joint-second earliest opening ever!

Opening Day!

Thanks to the work of the Sunday River snowmaking team, we’re planning to open for the 2018-19 winter season tomorrow, Friday, October 19 at 10AM.

Expect skiing on the T2 trail on upper Locke Mountain with lift service from the mid-station of the Locke Mountain triple and downloading back to the base at the end of the day.  Snow conditions will be ungroomed, new snowmaking and terrain is recommended for advanced abilities only.

Weather permitting, we aim to stay open through Sunday and kick off our early-season operation schedule of offering lift service on weekends only into early November. Stay tuned here for updates.

Season pass pickup and ski rentals will be at South Ridge Lodge, with Barker Lodge open for skiers services including food and ticket sales. Lift tickets will be $30 for all ages, but 40% less if you have a Threedom Pass.

Looking ahead, if you don’t have a Season Pass or Threedom Pass make sure to always buy lift tickets online to save and keep tabs on the Special Deals page for the latest offers.

See you out there, and let’s go Red Sox!

This brings the total number of resorts in North America with lifts turning to six. That’s pretty awesome for mid-October.

Sunday River, ME is just one of 36 iconic destinations available on the Ikon Pass.
