50th Avalanche Death in the Alps on Monday The European Alps just experienced their 50th avalanche death of the 2014/15 winter season. The most recent avalanche death occurred on Monday, February 2nd, 2015, at 6,223-feet while skiing the classic freeride descent of the Val Segnas in the off-piste terrain of the Disentis ski resort in the canton (state) of Graubünden, Switzerland.
