Brought to you by Alta Ski Area Report from March 17, 2021 Today at Alta Ski Area, we had a blast celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with ski blades and retrofits. We spent most of our time on the Sugarloaf chair runs. Right off the bat, we hit Devil’s Castle, eager to shred it on our blades, something neither of us had […]
Brought to you by Alta Ski Area Report from February 22, 2021 This morning was quiet and beautiful at Alta Ski Resort. After the huge 100” storm and the eager weekend crowds, it was nice to have a less congested mountain to shred today. We started the morning off by side-stepping up the Baldy elbow to ski what was left of […]
Brought to you by Alta Ski Area Report from January 29, 2021 Today at Alta Ski Area, we brought the ski blades out to play in some leftover powder. We got up early, caffeine pumping, ready to shred the morning away. While ski blades may not be the best choice for powder skiing, they are the best choice for maximum fun […]
Back in Mid-August of 2016, a father and son team descended upon a Southern Hemisphere gem…The Remarkables ski field near Queenstown, New Zealand. Located on the southern part of the South Island, the Remarkables is a mini mountain range by its own right. The Remarkables hosted the North Face Frontier today in the famous Alta Chutes. The conditions were perfect with fresh snow overnight and sunshine for most of the day. The Alta chutes are consistently steep and offer many options for both skiers and snowboarders. There are the classic slightly wider Elevator and Escalator chutes with lots of rockier and narrower areas […]
Toward the end of August 2015, a father & son team made the easy journey (if you ride a plane that is) from San Francisco to the Southern Alps of New Zealand. Our plan was to ski the first 4 days between Coronet Peak and The Remarkables and to introduce my son not only to NZ skiing but also to my good ol’ kiwi mates. As with any ski trip, all you can do is hope and pray that the planets will align to provide epic skiing conditions. Luckily, for my son’s first visit, the snow gods granted us superb weather and skiing around the Queenstown area.
Oh September…the perfect time to sleep on a plane and wake up in New Zealand! Its hard not to love the South Island of New Zealand. Good coffee, friendly people, crystal clear lakes, stunning vistas and of course, the Remarkables. You see, not only does this ski field cater to families but it has some seriously addicting ‘hike to’ terrain […]
