Whistler Blackcomb, BC Linked to World’s Largest Outbreak of COVID Variant Outside Brazil

A report from The Guardian claims that British Columbia is the center of the world’s largest outbreak of the P1 coronavirus variant. 1st Ever Rodeo Flip Landed in Competition: John John Florence

John John Florence landed the first rodeo flip ever landed in World Tour competition on Saturday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the Oi Rio Pro. The entire contest was basically 7-foot close-outs with steep ramps perfect for aerial maneuvers. John John didn’t even have a great ramp for this trick, he just went for it and pulled it off. This flip happened in the third round of the Oi Rio Pro last Saturday and the judges rewarded John John with a 9.0 ride. Pro Surfer Ricardo dos Santos Shot to Death by Off-Duty Cop

The surfing community unites in mourning the tragic loss of Brazilian surfer Ricardo dos Santos, who was shot outside of his home on Monday. Amongst conflicting reports, it appears that dos Santos, 24, was killed by an off-duty police officer at 8:40 am. One witness says dos Santos asked the officer and his brother to leave the beach outside his home, after spotting them using drugs and playing loud music. Another report says the altercation arose from a parked car on dos Santos’ property. Local police have taken two brothers , 25 and 17, into custody. Brain Post: New Species of River Dolphin Discovered in Brazil

According to a newly released study published in Plosone.org, scientists have discovered a new species of river dolphin living in Brazil’s Araguaia (means: river of red macaws” in the local Tupi language) river basin. The last time a new species of River Dolphin was discovered was during World War I. This study reports that the newly discovered Araguaia river dolphins diverged from the Amazon river dolphin 2 million years ago when these Araguaia dolphins became separated from the Amazon basin.
