NOAA: Record Heat for Utah So Far This Winter & More Coming Utah has had a bit rough winter thus far in Utah. The numbers above are all for Salt Lake City, not for the high mountains. Alta is reporting 193″ of total snowfall this winter, which is good. It has been warm this year, though, even in the mountains and there is more on the way. Heat is coming tomorrow for Utah Salt Lake City is expected to hit 65ºF tomorrow. That’s hot. Even Alta is expecting 50ºF temps tomorrow at 9,800-feet. That’s hot. 7 Ski Resorts Close on the West Coast Due to Low Snow Four more West Coast resorts have closed for due to low snow, adding to the 3 Californian ski mountains that closed last week. In Oregon, Mt. Ashland Ski Area, Hoodoo Ski Area, and Willamette Pass Resort have all stopped operations until they get enough snow. Eaglecrest Ski Area in Juneau, Alaska has also suspended operations. California Statewide Snowpack Currently at 19% of Average Yes, we know that California is having a dry year. But, it is interesting to hear just how dry we are. In the Northern Sierra, snowpack is at only 10% of average. In the Central Sierra (Tahoe) the snowpack is at 21% of average.
