WINTER STORM WATCH for California Today: 6″ of Snow Forecast NOAA just issued a Winter Storm Watch for the southern Sierra Nevada mountains above 9,000-feet for Sunday and Monday. This southern portion of Sierra Nevada holds the some of the tallest mountains in the Lower 48 in including the tallest mountain in the Lower 48, 14,495-foot Mt. Whitney.
