Jackson Hole, WY, Report: The Notorious “Pucker Face”

Report from February 9, 2023 The Notorious “Pucker Face” at Yesterday was a wild ride as per usual. No matter what, I’m scared on top of this thing. Teton Range, WY Report: Legendary “Pucker Face,” A Missed Friend, & A Golden Eagle

Report from February 23, 2022 Burning. Burning fingertips at 10,200′ as I scrunch my fingers into a ball inside the palms of my gloves. The searing pain distracts me as my fingers rewarm and I stagger uphill. I’m grinding up the ridge towards Cody Peak in the Teton Range, WY. It’s -7ºF and a light breeze is all it takes […]

Our 2nd line was simply as smooth as butter with spray twice as tall as a man. The spray we were throwing up was so tall […]

As we began our hike up the rocky ridge, my friend who works for Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Patrick Nelson, was hanging out at the beginning of the boot pack taking photos of random skiers. I stopped and talked with him for a minute and noticed no one had skied Pucker Face yet. Pucker has always been known to slide often and when it does, it is deadly. A super steep, rocky face that has taken lives in the past. I told Patrick I was going to assess it from the top. I got to […]
