Hutt got 120cms (48″)of snow and remained closed today due to avalanches, high winds, buried roads, and downed electric towers. They’re hoping to be open tomorrow. Coronet Peak and Cardrona are open today and the skiing looks damn good, especially for so early in the season. Treble Cone got 65cms (26″) of snow and they’ll be opening up next Thursday. Top 10 Snowfall Totals for 2014/15 in the USA: This list is especially interesting this year since this was such a difficult winter for so many areas. The majority of North America saw below average snowfall, including the ski resorts below. That said, there were some zones that did better than others. Lake Tahoe Ski Resort Snowfall Totals | Up to 17″ of New Snow Tahoe just got its biggest storm of the season. It was a big of a sneaker storm as only 4-12″ were forecasted by NOAA for this entire storm. Squaw has already gotten 12-17″ and it’s still dumping snow up there. The best part of this storm is that it’s cold and snowing to lake level. This is by far the most snow Tahoe has gotten down to lake level this year. Top 10 Snowfall Totals in the USA: It’s been another fantastic snow season for the Rocky Mountain Range of the U S of A. Rocky Mountain ski resorts absolutely dominated this list taking 8 of the top 10 biggest snowfall totals in the USA this winter. The Teton’s have done especially well taking top honors in the snowfall category this year. Colorado is also having a great snowfall year putting three resorts in the top 10. Utah shows up strong as well with three resorts in the top 10 after getting 80+ inches of snow in a week over Christmas. These snowfall totals come from the ski resorts’ websites. Lake Tahoe Snowfall Totals and Photos Today: Up to 22″ of Snow The “Severe” storm that was supposed to clobber Tahoe last night is widely being considered a dud. The main issue was that the wind shifted to coming from the South, which didn’t give it the power to get over the Pacific Crest and into the Tahoe Basin. West of the crest did very well with 12-16 inches being reported. The East side of the Tahoe Basin did poorly with only 3-5 inches being reported.
