Lake Tahoe Snowfall Totals and Photos Today: Up to 22″ of Snow The “Severe” storm that was supposed to clobber Tahoe last night is widely being considered a dud. The main issue was that the wind shifted to coming from the South, which didn’t give it the power to get over the Pacific Crest and into the Tahoe Basin. West of the crest did very well with 12-16 inches being reported. The East side of the Tahoe Basin did poorly with only 3-5 inches being reported. Squaw Valley, CA = 54″ of Snow in 48 Hours & Closed Yesterday Squaw Valley received 54″ of snow in the past 48 hours on the upper mountain and 61″ of snow in the past 7 days on the upper mountain. Yet, they only received 7″ of snow snow on the lower mountain in the past 48 hours. The R-word was around… Squaw had to close yesterday due to high avalanche danger.
