As resorts across the West succumb to a lack of snow and unseasonably warm spring temperatures, Tamarack Resort in Idaho hopes to keep the mountain experience alive for guests through April. The resort has announced a phased reduction in ski operations as the 2025-26 winter season draws to a close, consolidating lift service and transitioning key amenities toward spring programming.
Through Tuesday, March 24, the resort’s full lift lineup, including Discovery Chair, Tamarack Express, and Summit Express, continues to run on its standard schedule. Beginning Wednesday, March 25, operations consolidate to the Discovery Chair only, running 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Current base temperatures are hovering just above freezing, and the resort says conditions will determine how long the Discovery Chair remains operational.
Tamarack Express will shift to scenic rides on two select weekends, March 27-28 and April 3-4, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. each day. The April 3-4 window coincides with the snowmobile 2026 Rocky Mountain States Hillclimb Association (RMSHA) event at Tamarack Resort. Riders looking to take in the action from above can board Tamarack Express for views of the course, or stop for lunch at the Mid-Mountain Lodge along the way.
The resort’s Sports School wraps up its final lessons on Thursday, March 26, closing the following day. Basecamp and childcare programming, however, continue through the remainder of March and into April.
Tamarack, America’s only ski, golf, and lake resort, opened the 2025-26 season on December 22 after a slow start offset by heavy snowfall and snowmaking. The resort has sen 161″ of snow this season, and has a 63″ base at the summit.

The 2025-26 season marked one of Tamarack’s most ambitious upgrade cycles in recent memory, with new ski terrain added south of Bliss following post-fire recovery work, improvements to loading and unloading ramps at Discovery Chair, Tamarack Express, and Summit Express, and the debut of Elevation Studio for yoga and wellness classes. Those wellness offerings, along with lodging, dining, spa services, and spring events, remain open as the resort begins its transition toward summer.
Tamarack had previously set April 13 as its planned season closing date, though the resort notes that conditions will guide any final decisions on lift operations.
