Following a four-day closure caused by the resort’s water distribution system failure, Taos Ski Valley, NM, announced on its website that it would reopen on Thursday, April 6, 2023. The New Mexico ski resort first became aware of the problem on Saturday, April 1, 2023, and was forced to close after a quick fix proved impossible. The antiquated pipes leaking resulted in the resort losing water pressure, rendering it impossible to safely operate critical guest facilities such as bathrooms and food service.
Taos Ski Valley is scheduled to close on April 9, 2023, just after the Easter long weekend. Thankfully the resort can open just in time for a last hoorah before lifts stop spinning. The resort has been having a great season, and snow depth at the base of 7 is still 92 inches and a solid 75 inches at Mid-Shalako.
Sunday, April 9, 2023, Taos Ski Valley will host its annual Easter Egg Hunt for kids ten and under. The hunt will be from 9 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the base of the Pioneer Lift.
