Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.– Dylan Thomasย
All good things must come to an endโeven our ski seasons. However, some mountains, graced with prime geographic locations and strong, lingering snowpacks, clean-cut deals with the Forest Service or those who privately own their land, can remain open well into the spring and even summer. These North American ski resorts refuse to give in to the changing seasons. Let the good times roll…
These are the ski resorts that are still open as of May 20, 2025:
Pacific Northwest:
- Mt. Bachelor, OR โ daily through May 26
- Crystal Mountain, WA โ May 26 (weekends only)
- Timberline Lodge, OR โ daily through August 17
California:
- Palisades Tahoe โ May 25
- Mammoth Mountain โ June 8 at least

Utah:
- Solitude โ May 11 (then weekends May 16-18 and May 23-26)
- Snowbird โ May 26 (weekends only)
Colorado and Arizona:
- Arapahoe Basin Ski Area, CO โ June 8 (daily through June 1, then weekend of June 6, 7, and 8)
- Arizona Snowbowl โ June 1 weekends only
These resorts offer a variety of spring skiing experiences, from high-altitude groomers to slushy terrain parks. Timberline Lodge in Oregon stands out with its extended season, operating through mid-August yearly, while Beartooth Basin in Montana provides a unique summer skiing opportunity, opening in late May as America’s ‘summer only’ ski area.ย
So, skiers and snowboarders alike, I say to you: Rageโrage against the dying of the light…And ski some damn corn with your friends!
Did we miss any resorts on this list? We are not infallible when searching and cross-referencing an entire continent for open ski areas, so if we missed any, please let us know in the comments below.
Has not been announced yet is a possible extension of season at Mammoth Mt. Race camps are scheduled the first 2 weeks in June.
They will likely also be open to public these 2 weeks. Iโm counting on it.
Lutsen in Minnesota is open Fri-Sun until the end of April
