The East Coast and the Rockies have both experienced a true comeback year, offering skiers and boarders one of the best seasons in recent memory. At this point in the season, four Indy resorts in North America remain open, with a commitment to skiing into May. Let’s be real for a moment…staying open this late is nothing short of a herculean effort. Especially in the East, it takes weeks (often months) of snow management and a willingness to make snow late into the season. Itโs one thing to have the snow and terrain, but itโs another to decide to go for it. They have put dwindling resources to use for the benefit of skiers and riders who want to push forward and avoid the inevitable, sending out the historic snow year with a bang.
These resorts believe that being open matters and are giving their all for their loyal guests. This is the last chance to grab the last bit of winter before itโs gone.
Jay Peak
Jay Peak’s reputation is well-deserved, boasting the most snow in eastern North America and a liberal in-bounds policy that ensures you can enjoy it. 81 trails, slopes, and glades all wait for you, but the nooks and crannies are what really set Jay Peak apart.
Black Mountain
Loveland Ski Area
Mt. Hood Meadows
Mt. Hood Meadows operates on a special-use permit in the Mt. Hood National Forest, offering some of the most spectacular skiing and snowboarding in the Northwest. The resort is just 67 miles from Portland, delivering a big mountain experience that you’d expect to travel much farther to enjoy. The resort sprawls across Mt. Hood’s southeast flank: the sunny side of Mt. Hood. Meadows’ terrain welcomes and challenges all levels of skiers and snowboarders.
