The Taos, NM community this week mourns the death of Rick Reaves, a real estate broker for Berkshire Hathaway who died in a skiing accident at Taos Ski Valley last Thursday, reports the Taos News. Reaves, 63, died on Ernie’s Run around 2 pm on Thursday, according to Chris Stagg, Vice President at the Ski Valley.

Ski Patrollers responded to the site of the crash and transported Reaves down the mountain to Mogul Medical Clinic, where medics were unable to resuscitate the skier.

Reaves is the third skier to die in an accident at Taos Ski Valley this year. On Jan. 17, a rare inbounds avalanche near Kachina Peak, home to the mountain’s most expert terrain, killed two men in their 20s.

In retirement, Rick Reaves sometimes worked at Berkshire Hathaway selling real estate. In their spare time, he and his wife often visited the mountains to recreate.
