Thredbo Resort and Falls Creek Resort in Australia shut down their lifts today due to dangerous conditions as a massive storm approaches.

Damaging winds and heavy downpours are set to batter southeastern New South Wales today, with severe weather warnings in place for many parts of the state.

“The safety of our team and guests is paramount. Given the extreme weather forecast for heavy rain and gale force winds we have made the decision to not operate any lifts tomorrow, 4 August 2022.”

Thredbo announced yesterday it wouldn’t be opening while nearby Perisher closed some lifts with others on hold.

“It is wet and wild on the mountain today. The chair lifts are currently on windhold.”

Thredbo is expected to get between 4.7″ to 7.9″ of rain on Thursday as wild weather batters the region.
