Triple Over Edge Powder Day @ Squaw: Conditions Update + Photo Tour

Squaw Tram Face with a dusting of snow

We were all starting to worry, but it turns out the sky over California can still precipitate.  Squaw received a few inches of new snow on Saturday night bringing a very welcome white blanket to the valley and making Sunday the deepest day of 2014.  However, it was nowhere near the dump we so desperately need at this point.

Highlights of the day:

  • Far skiers right of Gold Coast (traversing all the way out to lower North Bowl at times)
  • Dog Leg with a pleasant mix of new snow and newly blown man made snow
  • Holiday crowds are now back down the hill

Lowlights of the day:

  • Shirley Lake, Siberia, and Squaw One remained closed
  • It’s a sad time when we’re calling a 2 inch rain/snow storm a pow day
Squaw Conditions shirley lake closed
The road to get to Shirley Lake was looking more like a frozen over river

It was certainly nice to get a light dusting, but we are still hurting here in Tahoe.  With nothing in the forecast to speak of, we may all have to pack up and move to Jackson Hole or Colorado if we want to ski real powder again.

Things are looking bleak for Tahoe…
