Cinco de Mayo will be this Tuesday, May 5, and, and a handful of ski resorts across the U.S. are still spinning lifts. While most aren’t planning official celebrations, a few are leaning into spring skiing with tacos, margaritas, and on-mountain parties. Camelback Mountain, located in Pennsylvania, and Palisades Tahoe in California will be hosting parties for the Mexican holiday.

Camelback Mountain is planning to open on Tuesday, May 5, for its Cinco De Mayo party. “We are going to open for Cinco De Mayo this Tuesday!” Jason Bays, VP and GM of Camelback Mountain Resort, said in a social media post. The Cinco de Mayo fiesta will, of course, feature tacos and tequila, and will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Palisades Tahoe received 84 inches, and its season isn’t over. “We don’t have a set date just yet,” Palisades said in its operations update. “We’re feeling confident about at least three more weeks of operations in May, which means the good times are very much still rolling.” Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in The Village at Palisades Tahoe with festive flavors, drink specials, and a lively atmosphere at Tremigo Mexican Kitchen & Tequila Bar. It’s a full day of tacos, margaritas, and good vibes as Palisades Taho brings the party to Olympic Valley. Cinco de Mayo Specials: 3 Tacos for $10, $10 Margaritas, $5 Sierra Nevada Drafts, and additional drink specials will be available throughout the day.

Ski Resorts Operating in May

West Coast

Arapahoe Basin, Colorado, has extended its season to Sunday, May 10, after receiving 14 inches of snow this week. The ski resort will be closed Monday through Thursday (May 4-7), then reopen Friday through Sunday (May 8-10). A-Basin is offering guests $39 lift tickets for its closing weekend. Lifts will spin as usual on this extended weekend (Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday/Sunday 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.)

Boyne Mountain, Michigan, is still skiing on weekends on Saturdays and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with Victor Glacier having a 10-foot base. Boyne Mountain has not made an official announcement on when it plans on closing for the 2025-26 season. “We’re not stopping until Mother Nature makes us,” the resort said in a conditions report on its website.

Brighton, Utah, announced on Thursday that it would extend its season and will be open 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. with Crest 6 and Explorer during the week, along with Majestic on weekends, and a park on Explorer.

Mammoth Mountain, California, received over four feet of snow in April, and its “Second Season” is just getting started. Sunday, May 3, will be the final day of operations for Roller Coaster Express (4) and Chair 12. 10 lifts will be open, serving up over 70 trails across the mountain. Thanks to colder temps, operating hours are scheduled to remain 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily for at least another week. With a 4 to 10-foot base still stacked across the mountain, coverage is deep, and riding is prime for spring laps. Canyon and Eagle Lodges are closed for the season, so Main Lodge and The Mill are your home base for getting after it. The free town shuttle runs every 30 minutes between the Main Lodge and the town, with parking shuttle service along SR 203 every 15 minutes.

Snowbird, Utah, will be open this week, but will not be operating on Tuesday, May 5, for Cinco de Mayo. Snowbird will be open for skiing and riding May 1-3 and May 9-10 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 10, will be Snowbird’s closing day.

Timberline Lodge, Oregon, has a base of 66 inches and boasts one of the longest ski seasons in the United States, running from mid-November through late May. According to an update shared by Mt. Hood Summer Ski Camps, the resort is currently targeting a July 19, 2026, closing date due to a below-average snowpack on Mount Hood. While the date is not yet set in stone, it would mark a significant shift for one of North America’s most reliable summer ski destinations.

Big Snow in New Jersey is always open, and the Snow Dome will be operating this upcoming week as normal.

Black Mountain, New Hampshire, final laps have yet to be determined, either thanks to an incredible winter the Northeast has had this season. “Here we are in May, with the season still going strong and plenty of snow across the mountain,” Black Mountain said in its snow report on Saturday, May 2. “Ski season is nowhere near over.”

Jay Peak Resort, Vermont, will close Monday through Thursday (May 4–7), then reopen Friday through Sunday, May 8–10, with the Jet Triple. The ski resort plans to share another update next week with details for skiing and riding for the weekend of May 16-17.

Killington, Vermont, this is the final week of seven-day lift operations at Killington for the Superstar Six. After May 3, the ski resort plans to remain open as long as possible Friday through Sunday, plus Memorial Day, weather permitting.
