This winter, the trip from door to first chair just got easier for skiers and snowboarders. Uber Technologies, Inc. unveiled its new seasonal offering, Uber Ski, a ride-hail service designed for mountain trips with built-in gear accommodations and integrated lift-ticket purchases.

Available through the end of March, Uber Ski lets users reserve vehicles that can carry up to four people plus skis or snowboards. Riders will select the service through Uber’s existing Reserve feature, booking up to 90 days ahead. The service will launch in key destinations across the United States, France, and Switzerland, and announce a forthcoming expansion into Canada.

Uber’s move coincides with a partnership with Vail Resorts, the ski industry giant behind the iconic Epic Pass. Through the Uber app, users can now purchase Epic Pass or Epic Day Pass options as they book their mountain transportation—linking the ride and the resort access in one seamless step.

“We are thrilled to offer skiers and snowboarders alike a convenient and reliable way to get to the mountain this season,” Adib Roumani told Investing.com, Director of Engineering at Uber.

Logging skis, boots, and bulky gear through standard ride-hail services has long been a friction point for winter travelers. With designated larger vehicles—UberXL for up to two guests with gear and UberXXL for up to four—Uber is positioning itself to remove that barrier. Meanwhile, the Epic Pass integration gives skiers one less app to toggle, one fewer checkout screen to navigate. For the resorts on the Epic Pass, the move offers a new channel to reach consumers at the moment of trip planning, reinforcing their subscription model while driving visitations across their resort portfolio.

What Riders Should Know

  • To access the service, download or update the Uber app and select “Uber Ski” via the Reserve tile.

  • Choose between vehicle classes: UberXL (for up to two with gear) or UberXXL (up to four with gear).

  • During checkout, skiers will also see Epic Pass options if eligible.

  • While these trailers and shuttle-like options are available now, availability may vary by resort region and peak dates—so early booking is advised.

For many skiers and snowboarders, transportation has long been a limiting factor: car rentals with ski boxes, unpredictable shuttles, and gear logistics often add headache. Uber Ski aims to flip that script, aligning ride convenience with resort access. And for the ski industry at large, it signals a growing emphasis on not just lift tickets, but travel and logistics as part of the full winter experience.

If this season unfolds as planned, Uber Ski may become as familiar to snow-travelers as boot-warmers and baseline layers.
