Work by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has begun on clearing snow from Guardsman Pass, nestled between Big Cottonwood Canyon the Park City Ridgeline in Utah’s Wasatch Mountains.

The pass is a short stretch of highway that’s nestled smack dab in the center of some of the Central Wasatch’s best backcountry terrain.

UDOT wrote in an Instagram post regarding an update of the pass’ opening:

“When is Guardsman Pass going to open?”

We know the stoke is high and you’re ready for the pass to be open – we’re looking forward to those scenic views ourselves. We don’t have a date for you quite yet but fret not, we will let you know when we have more information on the anticipated opening date and post it here. In the meantime, please enjoy this shot of our crews currently out there working to get it open for the summer season. 🤙

Meanwhile, we’re stil waiting on UDOT to clear the Mirror Lake Highway in the Utah’s Uintah Mountains, which boasts some of the best spring descents in the state.

Once it opens, we’ll be sure to be there.

Thanks for all your hard work, UDOT!
