Utah Just Had One of Snowiest Octobers in Last 100-Years

A series of early season storms that have dumped over five feet of ‘the greatest snow on Earth™️’ on Utah means that the state has just had its snowiest October in fifteen years and a top five snowiest October in the last century.

Alta Ski Area saw 67″ of snow during October 2021, which is more than the November average of 60″. 

Solitude Mountain Resort saw 63″ of snow.

The map above shows the state of the snowpack across the state. While those huge numbers don’t really mean much at this time of year, it does demonstrate how abnormal this amount of snow in October is.

According to Ski Utah, the last time Utah saw this much early season snow was in 2004, which turned out to be one of the snowiest seasons ever. Here’s hoping history repeats itself…
