The 2025-26 ski season is a little over two weeks away in Utah and several ski resorts have announced when they will be open for the new season. Utah is known for having some of the best snow conditions, terrain, and largest ski resorts in the United States. Some Utah resorts are kicking off the season with great ticket prices, new terrain, and upgrades to their resorts.
Brian Head Resort is Utah’s southernmost ski area and has set its opening date for the 2025-26 ski season on Friday, November 7, and has one of the most affordable daily lift passes in the United States. The resort offers daily lift tickets starting from $14 to $23 for November, which is a 26% decrease year-on-year. The resort has also invested over $1.4 million to enhance the guest experience, including upgraded snowmaking, new rental equipment, and an improved Bypass Terrain Park. Last winter Brian Head opened with daily operations starting on November 8, 2024, and ending on May 11, 2025, for a record-setting 181 skiable days. Brian Head is undertaking a major expansion that will nearly triple its terrain footprint. The resort is proposing to add 1,651 acres of Dixie National Forest and private land to increase the Special Use Permit boundary from 887 to 2,538 acres. The project features 26 new lifts, over 382 acres of new trails, 19 miles of new snowmaking infrastructure, 15 miles of new roads, and four on-mountain dining venues. If approved, the resort’s capacity would jump from about 4,300 to over 13,000 guests, making Brian Head one of the largest skiing destinations in the West.
Deer Valley is going into the 2025-26 ski season with new terrain and lifts that skiers will have the opportunity to check out. The Utah Resort released an updated map, painted by ski map artist Rad Smith, that features almost 80 new trails and seven new chairlifts that will open for the new ski season. Much of the new terrain rises above the resort’s developing East Village base area, bringing landmarks like Park Peak, Big Dutch Peak, Keetley Point, and Pioche Point officially into the resort’s boundary.
Powder Mountain will kick off its 2025-26 winter season with night skiing at Sundown on Friday, December 12. The price of night lift tickets will only be $24 and that price will remain in effect throughout the season. Friday night, the Sundown Lift and the Sun Tunnel Surface Lift are scheduled to run from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., weather and snow conditions permitting. Daytime operations are set to begin the following morning, Saturday, December 13, at 9:00 a.m.
