Vail, Colorado is now open for the 2019-2020 winter season! Lifts started spinning at the resort last Friday, November 15th.
New for this season at Vail is a snowmaking system with approximately 80 fixed location cannons lining the sides of runs like trees. Snowmaking crews have been hard at work all preseason, and locals report that the snow was riding well for opening day.
Currently, there are several open runs from the top of the gondola, both groomed and ungroomed. Lines were reported to be fairly long on opening day as skiers and snowboarders were stoked to be riding again, however, the runs themselves remained relatively uncrowded since there were several to choose from.
