Sixty years ago on December 15th, 1962 at 9:00 AM Vail mountain in Colorado officially opened with one gondola and two chairlifts with tickets selling at a whopping $5. Since Vail Mountain’s humble beginnings, founded by Pete Seibert, Earl Eaton, and the rest of the Vail Corporation, they have continued to expand and lead the ski industry.

Vail Mountain has been dedicated to allowing guests to access the world-class ski terrain with high-speed lifts and pioneering its safety-focused, top-notch ski and snowboard schools.

Sixty years of excellence have inspired Vail Mountain to carry on its tradition for the next 60 years. Vail Mountain has proclaimed that the future will bring a focus on Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity along with sustainability efforts to be a part of the new and improved environmentally conscious future. With these focuses, Vail Mountain will also create access opportunities for youth and commit strongly to opportunities for adaptive skiing and snowboarding.
