On Monday, we went straight for the big terrain with Pulseline Adventure in Valdez, AK.

  • Pencil Glacier
  • Schwan Glacier

We skied big lines.

Long lines.

Fun lines.

The snow was a nice recrystallized joy.

Especially after the previous day’s challenging snow in many spots.

We glided over recrystallized (near surface facets) snow – what I like to call “Alaskan Velvet.”

The magic of Alaskan Velvet is that every turn is exactly the same.

Traditional Alaskan Velvet is about 6″ deep, responsive, sluffy, and wildly fun.

We skied 8 runs on this day and were chased out of the field by high clouds and wind.

Thanks, Alaska.
