Valle Nevado, Chile, got its first substantial snow this weekend, 55cm (21 inches) total laying the foundation for a great 2022 season.

While no official opening date has been announced, June 17th is tentatively on the calendar.

Last year the resort opened on June 30th, on June 18th in 2020, and on June 28th in 2019.

Following two years impacted by covid and low snow, here’s hoping the home to the best skiing and riding in the southern hemisphere gets dumped on this year.

The Endless Winter lives in the beautiful Andes Mountains at Valle Nevado. The ski area is South America’s most modern resort, located just 90 minutes east of Santiago at 10,000 feet and spread along the spine of a dramatic mountain ridge, offering spectacular 360-degree views. The resort is known for its wide-open terrain, world-class heli-skiing, and snow quality, which is the best of any Chilean resort due to its altitude, southern orientation, and extensive snowmaking system. An interconnect ticket, when purchased separately, opens access to two neighboring resorts for a staggering 7,000 total acres of terrain.

Valle Nevado is on the Ikon Pass and if you book now you can save 10-40% on package deals.
