The 2025-26 ski season has featured record-breaking conditions in the East and one of the toughest seasons in the West. However, don’t forget about the Midwest: skiing and riding are still going strong at Boyne Mountain, Michigan, with plans to keep skiing until Memorial Day on Monday, May 25.
The resort is down to one run, Victor Glacier, which still has an 8-foot base, according to its mountain report. This weekend, Boyne was open for skiing on Saturday and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Victor Glacier. The park crew set up four features at the base of the glacier and will be there until the end of the season.
Three ski resorts will have their final laps of the 2025-26 ski season this weekend: Jay Peak, Vermont; Black Mountain, New Hampshire; and Arapahoe Basin, Colorado. That leaves just five remaining ski resorts open in the United States, including Boyne Mountain. Killington, Vermont; Mammoth Mountain, California; and Timberline Lodge, Oregon, have yet to announce their closing dates, while Palisades Tahoe, California, is set to close on Sunday, May 24.
On Saturday, May 16, Boyne Mountain and Mount Bohemia Passholders were invited for an end-of-season party powered by passion and pizza, courtesy of Lonie Glieberman, Founder, Owner, & President of Mount Bohemia. Saturday morning began with the Slush Rush, and Boho passholders could ski for free at Boyne Mountain. The Afternoon Splash Bash was a Pool takeover at Clock Tower Lodge (2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.) for all Boho and Boyne Michigan passholders. The weather on Saturday had a few clouds early, but was mostly sunny with a high of 73°F. Sunday, the skies stay mostly cloudy with a slight chance of a rain shower and a high of 71°F.
Monday, May 25, marks Boyne Mountain’s latest closing date in history. The resort is celebrating the ambitious plans with a Victor Glacier Closing Party on Saturday, May 23, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. The event will feature coffee, donuts, runs on Victor Glacier, and a silent auction featuring a pair of Shaggy’s Brockway 90s with the Boyne Mountain graphic, paired with Salomon Strive 12 bindings. All proceeds benefit the Boyne Forever Foundation. “If we make it, it’ll officially be Boyne Mountain’s latest closing date EVER. History is on the line,” Boyne Mountain wrote on its social media channels.
This puts Boyne Mountain in a class by itself in the Midwest, with the ski resort’s snow-making team making snow on Victor Glacier for the second season in a row. Last season, the resort closed to downhill skiers on May 18, but a hike park was built on Victor, and it reopened for a bonus day on May 23. This year, the resort opened on December 5, 2025, which is an incredible 162-day season for a Midwest ski resort. With hopefully three more days of skiing planned at Boyne Mountain after this weekend, the 2025-26 ski season in Michigan will go down as one for the books.
