A crazy summer storm hit the Italian city of Turin on Friday, August 2. The storm front brought hail and approximately 3-3.5 inches of rain in just over two hours to the city that hosted the 2006 Winter Olympics.
Hail the size of golf balls smashed car windows and destroyed shop windows. The rain caused floods throughout the city center of Turin, sending outside furniture down the streets and stranding cars.
Turin is located in the Piedmont region and is only 90 minutes from the Via Lattea ski area, the fifth largest ski area in the world with 70 ski lifts and 250 miles (400km) ski runs.
It is not the first time this summer the city has been hit by wild summer storms. In May, the city saw ankle-deep hail falls.
