Professional skier Cody Townsend and his filmmaker Bjarne Salen are back with another episode of The Fifty+, documenting Townsend’s quest is to create his list of classic ski lines and take The Fifty Classic Descents of North America to new heights. In this episode, Townsend invites legendary filmmaker Jimmy Chin for an attempt on the South Teton in the Teton Mountains of Wyoming where they have to navigate tricky late-season conditions and prioritize their safety.
“The Fifty+ allows for the freedom to ski like I’ve always normally skied and like most people ski, which is like, ‘hey let’s go to somewhere cool and go find a cool line and go ski it.’ That’s the Fifty+: continuing to be able to have adventures in the mountains and go tick off a bunch of cool ski lines,” Townsend told SnowBrains in a phone interview.
In this episode of The Fifty+, Townsend documents his decision making process and how his team values safety above glory. He shared an accompanying post about the mission, which can be viewed on his blog.
