Professional skier Cody Townsend and his filmmaker Bjarne Salen are back with another episode of The Fifty+, documenting Townsend’s quest is to create his list of classic ski lines and take The Fifty Classic Descents of North America to new heights. In this episode, Townsend climbs a challenging 5,300 vertical feet for the descent of a Colorado 14er, with unexpected weather and questionable gear adding to the adventure.

The Fifty+ allows for the freedom to ski like I’ve always normally skied and like most people ski, which is like, ‘hey let’s go to somewhere cool and go find a cool line and go ski it.’ That’s the Fifty+: continuing to be able to have adventures in the mountains and go tick off a bunch of cool ski lines,” Townsend told SnowBrains in a phone interview.

Townsend calls the line a perfect blend of “many great ski mountaineering ingredients to form a thoroughly satisfying day.” He shared an accompanying article about the mission, which can be viewed on his blog.
