Alta, UT 10/28/19 – It’s that time of year again where waking up in the wee hours of the morning to go do something you love never seemed easier.

Mitch McDermott got first turns down Main Chute at Alta Ski Area TODAY slashing around in that famous powder Utah is known for.

Main Chute on Mt. Baldy is a Wasatch classic and an extraordinary line that shoots you out into the heart of Alta Ski Area. It is one of the better preseason lines in the Wasatch and Mr. McDermott makes that clear.

The upper portion of the chute was filled with blower powder and very playful, especially for October. Yet, skiers are advised to proceed with caution when attempting preseason lines in the Wasatch Mountains as zones are still boney and snow conditions unstable.

A word of caution from McDermott regarding the current conditions in Main Chute:

“The skin up, bottom 200’, and apron all were very boney and shallow.. like booting down shallow, especially after we scraped it out. We poked into it cautiously, and this video was the only part of the chute you could ride aggressively with confidence.. I wouldn’t go up there if I were you!”
