Treble Cone, NZ on July 29th, 2016

video & words by Louis Charnaud

We’ve recently had a couple large storms pass through bringing 50/70 cms in places it was unexpected so we had small queues and endless fresh tracks thoughout the past days (given if you look in the right places). The snow conditions are the best they have been since opening with constant top ups meaning the snow is soft and not too choppy!
All the bomb holes from our previous session had filled in so we new that the cliffs and hits were ready to be hit again! However this time everyone stepped their game up, Konsti stomped a huge backflip of Konsti Rock (never seen this happen before). Xavier sent Kea rock about 10feet deeper than everyone who sent it. We were lucky enough to have Sam join us for a few runs in the morning and got to see him launch some cork 7’s off windlips. Sam and Xavi found a cool dog leg hit under the chair but it turned out to have a tricky entrance and a flat landing (first 5 seconds into the video).
Currently we are getting slammed with more precip and its falling as snow in the mountains. It is expected to pass by the early hours of Monday.
Tuesday is going to be a large day.
