Three-time World Surfing Tour Champion Mick Fanning was attacked by a shark in the opening minutes of the finals of the Jeffrey’s Bay world tour stop in South Africa today.

‘I was just sitting there and I felt something just get stuck in my leg rope, and I was kicking trying to get it away.” – Mick Fanning

Sharks are cool.
Sharks are cool.

The shark aggressively came at Mick, knocked him off his board, and chewed through his leash.  Mick was completely freaked out and was picked up by jet ski only moments after the shark attack.  You could see his board floating away since the shark had bitten through his leash.

The Finals at J-Bay, South Africa are currently on hold due to this shark attack.

This is Fing crazy.  The whole thing is on film and you can watch it happen.  What do you think?  We think he was pretty damn lucky.

Glad you’re alright, Mick.

Don’t forget, sharks only kill about 12 humans per year.  Humans kill about 100 million sharks per year.
