Mt Baker Ski Area, WA had a week of consistent powder days last week. Sadly, it has come to end after rain continues to fall all the way up to the summit of the mountain. As a result, the ski area will be closed today in hopes of reopening on Tuesday. Thankfully, the rain is forecasted to turn back to snow on Tuesday.

Mt Baker Press Release:

As predicted by mountain weather forecasts, temperatures warmed up Sunday and we saw significant rain and wind through the day. With the rain falling on top of major amounts of recent snowfall, Mt. Baker will be closed Monday and will resume normal midweek operation Tuesday January 30th.

Forecasts are calling for snow levels to begin dropping later Monday and for snowfall to begin accumulating. Timing of the switchover will certainly have bearing on how Tuesday morning shakes out, but we could get 6 to 8 inches of new for Tuesday with snow levels around 2800 feet (which is below White Salmon). Looking for this to be the return to a cold, snowy weather pattern!
