runitsanavlanche posted this video of a skier outrunning an avalanche on Mt. Hood, OR on Sunday, December 10th, 2017. Warm temperatures and rain have recently impacted the area, which has taken its toll on the snowpack. Just because it hasn’t snowed recently doesn’t mean that avalanches can’t occur, so be safe out there.
Skied that same line in Sat. but firm snow then!!
I wouldn’t really call that outrunning it. More like “Skier Oblivious to Avalanche Lucks Out as It Passes him on the Right.”
He skied away from it as soon as he became “aware” of it.Well done!!
