Alta Ski Area, Utah, saw over four inches of snow this weekend, and The Daily POW guys didn’t need asking twice to make their first turns of the season.
“It wasn’t exactly a packed house at Alta Ski Area today but I think that was for good reason.”
As you’d expect, conditions on High Boy were a little sketchy, but the first snow and first turns of the season mean winter is just around the corner.Â
High Boy, also known as Alf’s High Rustler after ski pioneer Alf Engen, is one of Alta’s most famous and steep runs, featuring a sustained pitch of about 45 degrees with over 1,000 feet of vertical drop. The run is a renowned challenge and rite of passage for advanced skiers, offering consistent fall-line skiing with opportunities for airtime. It begins near the Collins lift and concludes at the Wildcat Base.
Alta Ski Area is scheduled to open for the 2025-26 season on November 21.
