VIDEO: This is What it Feels Like to Ski at Over 100-MPH Down the World’s Steepest Groomer

The steepest groomed slope on the planet is in Idre Fjäll, Sweden and it hosted the Speed Ski World Cup in March 2020.

It’s astonishing to go over the top: you can’t see the track below you until a couple of seconds after starting: it’s just like jumping off a cliff, not knowing what’s below you. I ended up finishing 5th overall in the World Cup, a result I couldn’t be happier with. In this last race in Idre Fjäll, Sweden, I was overtaken by World Record holder Italian Ivan Origone and I finished just 3 points ahead in the World Ranking of Russian Mikhail Shumilin, quite a battle!

I feel my skiing has made a lot of progress on every level, in particular connecting mind and body, achieving concentration at high speed. This would have never been possible without my team. Thank you so much for the endless hours invested, the long trips, and the constant effort!

Thinking of 2021, I’ve made a plan to be able to train from home. Because of the abrupt end of the season, I have an extra month to prepare.
